Recently, Dr. Wang Yang, founder and CEO of Hangzhou Zhiwei Technology, accepted an appointment as Vice President of Liaoning Institute of Technology. The appointment is a key measure for the university to deepen its development strategy and build itself into a high-level application-oriented university.

Liaoning Institute of Technology is located in Jinzhou, a historic and cultural city on the western Liaoning corridor by the Bohai Bay and known as a “hero city.” The university is a regular undergraduate institution approved by the Ministry of Education. Founded in 1999, it passed the Ministry of Education's undergraduate teaching qualification evaluation in 2023 and was approved in 2024 as a project development institution for authorization to confer master's degrees.

The university operates the Songshan and Binhai campuses, covering an area of approximately 593.4 mu, with a building area of 255,700 square meters. It currently has 10 secondary schools, including the School of Automotive Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Electrical Engineering and Intelligent Control, and School of Information Engineering, as well as one public teaching unit and one affiliated unit. The university has 472 full-time teachers and 9,055 enrolled students. It has developed into a multidisciplinary, application-oriented university of science and engineering centered on engineering and coordinated across engineering, science, management, and other disciplines.

Following his appointment, Dr. Wang will help deepen university-enterprise collaborative innovation, concentrate efforts on core technologies in automotive engineering and robotics, and jointly cultivate innovative application-oriented talent. Hangzhou Zhiwei Technology and Liaoning Institute of Technology will jointly establish an Automotive and Robotics Innovation Research Institute. The institute will bring together research resources from Zhiwei Technology and Liaoning Institute of Technology, focusing on the construction of an Intelligent Full Active Suspension Design and Intelligent Control Research Center, an Automotive Robotics and Intelligent Control Joint Laboratory, a Zhiwei Technology Internship and Practice Center, and a Zhiwei Baja Off-Road Vehicle Team. These efforts will support the university in becoming a technology R&D hub and application-oriented talent training base for Liaoning's new energy vehicle industry, creating a positive cycle in which industrial needs drive educational reform and educational innovation supports industrial development.
In discipline development, Dr. Wang will use the application for master's degree programs as a guide, integrate advantageous disciplinary resources such as automotive engineering and electrical intelligent control, improve the quality and effectiveness of engineering education professional accreditation, focus on the core technology needs of the new energy vehicle industry, optimize the discipline and major structure, and support the university in advancing toward provincial-level key disciplines and national-level industry-university-research cooperation platforms.
Under the leadership of Dr. Wang Yang, Zhiwei Technology will continue to deepen its work in the intelligent chassis field for passenger vehicles, focusing on Full Active Suspension System R&D and the industrialization of key components. The company will continue to deepen scientific research cooperation with Liaoning Institute of Technology, the College of Automotive Engineering at Jilin University, and the College of Control Science and Engineering at Zhejiang University, carrying forward the research spirit of “working tirelessly for the rise of China's automotive technology,” pursuing pragmatic development and striving toward higher goals.
